Me: "Awww- just like the person you married!"
I guess Ryan loves immaturity deep down. Who knew? Perhaps it took my influence to bring it out of him.
I don't know if I can quite put into words the past week we've had around here, but I'll give it a shot. We've had more ups and downs than your average thrill ride.
Before I frighten anyone, yes, everything is perfectly fine with Baby Moody : )
Last Monday before a trip to my grandparents' house I began sneezing non stop out of nowhere. I figured I'd just inhaled something that didn't agree with me, but it kept on into the evening. Annoying, yes, but I didn't think much of it.
Later that night Ryan wanted to watch one of his beloved shows On Demand when he was cheerfully greeted by yet another error message saying the channel was "temporarily unavailable." It then dawned on me where Time Warner got its name: "I'm WARNing you. Your cable won't work half the TIME."
Angry Ryan wasn't having that.
Four customer retention reps later, our subscription was cancelled and we had installation with Dish Network scheduled for the following day. How's that for getting things done?
One crisis averted. Fast forward to 1:30 the next morning. and I woke up with a THROBBING sore throat. What was going on in there???
Was the annual Texas Pete convention taking place?
Or perhaps a celebration of freedom and liberty?
At 4:00 am I made an executive decision to call in sick the next day. In my stupor I had to wait for a roofer to come AND on the cable people with their five hour window of time. Gag me with a spoon. When making hasty, quick decisions, I think you trade one set of problems for another.
I could not go another day without seeing the doctor, but I was stuck at home waiting. My parents and brother dropped what they were doing and drove to Columbia in the pouring rain so that I could go to my appointment. Could I seriously ask for a better family??? I think not.
They were Godsends. My Mom drove me to the doctor as I lay miserably beside her in the passenger seat like a wet fish, my brother fixed all kinds of things for us around the house, and one of my Dad's contributions included raiding our pantry of snacks that I shouldn't be eating anyway.
I was a prisoner in the bed and sick as a dog for the next three days (and am still recovering). But just like Grand Central Station this house kept right on going.
Ryan receives training 101 on our new Dish system.
It doesn't take much to confuse my father technologically; he even thinks the remote to his van has a conspiracy against him.
So at 9:30 that night when the Dish guys left, my Dad picked up a remote with all new buttons and gadgets and tried to change the channel...
"Skip back? Skip forward?? What does that mean???"
While trying to learn something new and mind boggling time seems to stand still. Like that time I made the mistake of asking the cashier at Bed Bath & Beyond to gift wrap an item I bought.
The buildings outside looked different when she finally finished.
And the young girl behind me had changed drastically.
Every crease and fold on that gift took her about a month to get just right. By the time I left I was receiving social security checks.
Time also drags when you're sick, but I was extremely grateful to have my whole family and Ryan with me to meet my every need.
"Whenever you call me, I'll be there. I'll be around..."
By Thursday, July 4th, I was finally well enough to look presentable.
As Ryan noted, my MAC makeup brush returned after a hiatus.
Our Independence Day cookout was a great success, even if we did have to move the grill in the garage mid flame due to a downpour.
What is the DEAL with these monsoons lately??? Do we live in a tropical rainforest??
"Today's forecast includes a 200% chance of rain." - Traumatic Toucan weather report
"Try raining on my parade."
Happy 4th of July from all of us!
Last Friday I returned to work to get a few things done before the weekend. After being out three days I knew I needed to be on time, in my seat at 8:00, and ready to go. Imagine my horror when I woke up at 7:51 am.
I'm pretty sure my shirt was on backwards on the way out the door, with my hair rivaling a used mop.
Not to mention that there was a delicate, sprinkling rainfall taking place during my drive.
I arrived to work like a Swiffer wet jet only to discover that I had forgotten my laptop at home in the kitchen chair.
EPIC fail. Can I just start over again???
Ryan's family came to see us this past weekend to get some rest and relaxation.
After lunch at Cici's I came back to the table to a hysterically laughing father-in-law. Apparently I had a KITE of tissue stringing from the bottom of my shoe.
We ended our week up in smoke. LITERALLY. Details aside, we were so grateful that the Lord had His hand on us. He is always faithful and always keeps His promise to protect us.
This upcoming weekend is going to be VERY special, and I can hardly wait to share some news with all of you. In the mean time, please pray that I get rid of this horrible sinus infection in the next couple of days.
With love, excitement, and anticipation,
