What is frazzled, frantic, and has two legs that are being pulled on?
Easy. A father with young children...or older children, except then they are pulling on his wallet instead of his legs.
Truthfully, my Dad still has this shirt from many years ago.
I have been crazy busy and would like to begin this post with a Father's Day recap and thank my Dad for everything he (and my mother) have done for Jay and me. They are incredible.
From day one we were the joy of their lives.
My Dad used to let us ride on his back and jump on his stomach...until my junk food eating made that a hazard for all parties involved.
He helped us learn how to ride bikes without knocking out any teeth.
He would initially gasp in horror at our latest mess but then quickly laugh about it.
He spent a majority of our childhood lugging one of these around to document our every move.
He read Bible stories to us almost every night before bedtime.
He and my mom definitely deserve one of these:
Ryan and I have both been blessed with wonderful earthly fathers, and we couldn't be MORE thrilled that Ryan will soon be given the same responsibility.
Family Father's Day fun
As usual I insisted on decorating the cards (while in a hurry- don't judge).
Daddy's clip art included a lawn mower, Chinese takeout box, a cellphone and pile of noodles.
For Ryan's Dad a gun, deer antlers, and Doritos seemed appropriate.
Is Hallmark hiring???
Both mine and Ryan's grandfathers had recent health scares.
My Papa ended up being admitted to the hospital and having a Pacemaker "installed" to regulate his heart. Ryan's grandfather fell and broke several bones, and Hospice was called in. We were so grateful to get to visit with him a few days later and also be with Papa during his Providence stay.
By the grace of God both grandfathers are doing much better than we anticipated, and Papa is almost completely back to normal. Maybe the sweet treats from Tiffany's Bakery had something to do with it.
While Papa is back to his old self, I don't think he'll be doing his famous heel clicks anytime soon.
Apparently his pacemaker has a battery that has to be replaced in a few years. Our question was, "How will we know when it's time to do that?"
Will he start sputtering around or emit sparks?
Calm down, Papa. Okay, okay. We'll call Energizer.
We laughed and LAUGHED about that. But hey, while technology can be exceedingly annoying in this case it probably saved his life.
After the surgery I found out that my Mom's best friend from high school, Rebecca, was actually one of the nurses present during my grandfather's procedure. Can you believe that??? We KNEW one of the people whose hands and mind we prayed for the Lord to guide!!! Unbelievable.
On another note, how is it 2013 and yet the TV remotes in hospital rooms are only capable of going in one direction?
While we're on the subject of directions, Kim and Kanye have unveiled their baby's name: North West.
Wait...what???
No, really. North West. Here is her first newborn portrait:
You'll take your first right at the red light.
Is that a baby name, or traffic directions? If a music or fashion career do not work out, at least that child has a promising career as a tour guide.
Now back to earth, which is south of the moon. I had a wonderful time catching up with friends at Hilary's bridal shower. We are super pumped for her and Bennett's big day coming very soon!
And Jamie, Chris, Ryan, and I had a great time at the pool the other night.
Jay has been with us for the past few days, and we had nothing short of a blast with him. Our weekend included: Sumo, Outback, Mario Kart, Monopoly, pool time, a visit with Nanny & Papa, Monsters Inc, church, and a big Sunday cookout.
Clearly Ryan is enthralled with Jay and Papa's discussion on economic development in China.
We had an awesome time with Jay and can't wait to see him again!
In other news, I have been looking into luxury mansions daycares for the little one. HOLY $MOKE$!!! What in HEAVEN'S name is going on at these places that costs a small fortune? The resulting findings in price have raised some rational questions in my mind.
Are the infants coloring with gold crayons?
Using cashmere diapers?
Baaaaa humbug.
Taking a luxury limo on field trips???
You should have heard my conversation with the various institutions over the phone after being quoted a monthly price.
"No, ma'am. You must be mistaken. I'm not looking to lease a Porsche; I'm just calling about childcare."
Talk about bursting my bubble. I was recently told that some moms make their own baby food at home to save money and that perhaps I should try it.
Are you kidding me?!?!?
Tonight's menu for Baby Moody will include pureed Cheetos with a splash of Skittles.
I see that going over totally well. NOT. I'll just stick with Gerber and hope Ed McMahon resurrects on my front door steps with a check.
Gerber is to baby as Sheba is to cats. Only the best for my child.
Food. I've been wanting a lot of it lately. Just ask me how I felt watching the Miss USA swimsuit competition at almost 22 weeks pregnant.
Mrs. Moody, step AWAY from the chips!
I will end this plethora of nonsense with MIRACULOUSLY good news. My ultrasound last week revealed that everything is completely and perfectly on track with the baby. Do you realize what a miracle that is? Major organs have to be in the right place. Vessels need to be going in the right direction. All limbs have to be present. There need to be four chambers in the heart. The spine needs to align. Facial features are checked. The cord has to be positioned correctly. Each and every molecule of a human being is nothing short of a miracle.
I pray that people who have been blessed with knowledge of the human body (like scientists and doctors) will take a stand against those who don't believe in God. With every ounce of my being I believe that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image.
Stay tuned with much more excitement coming very soon : D
