Month Eight: Excitement Awaits!

While watching a USC game on TV:
Me: "I remember thinking that I would be so large during football season."
Ryan: "Oh?  Which year?"

THIS ONE, obviously, but leave it to sweet Ryan to make light of the situation.  Jokes aside, he has been absolutely wonderful and incredibly supportive during this entire time.

In lieu of actually ordering this trophy which would require spending money uselessly (a no-no around here), I'll send him this picture via email.  He'll get the sentiment.

I will be so grateful when I can fit into the other 95% of my wardrobe that is currently unwearable unless everyone around me were to wear safety glasses to avoid popping buttons.

When my friends and I went on a Biltmore tour during my Bachelorette weekend a mother of two precious girls approached me and said, "My daughters think you're the princess of the castle and keep asking to take a picture with you.  Would you mind?"

I wonder where those sweet girls are and for whom they would mistake me in the present day...

Yikes.

This past weekend was a milestone: it was officially my last weekend to go home until the baby arrives (traveling is not recommended after week 36).  I made the best of it, starting by heading in town Thursday night for a delicious Del Sol dinner with Jay and Caroline, followed by Wii and other game playing.

LOVE spending time with them!

Recent "Categories" game hilariousness: name a part of the body that starts with an "L."  For some reason "lynx" immediately came to mind.

"It's LARYNX, Katharine.  A lynx is a cat."  So what difference do a couple of letters make??

I have a cat in my throat.

This past Saturday was such a special day- my church hosted a WONDERFUL shower for me, and I was running around more cheerfully than a person applying for a greeter position in Heaven.

YAHOO!!!! WOO HOO!!!! I'M SO GLAD YOUR'E HERE!!!!! YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Consider yourself hired.

That diaper cake is sugar free!

Most of the hosts.  I LOVE each of these ladies so dearly!!!

The day was absolutely SO special, and I will never forget it.

For the hostess gifts I painted and decorated everyone's last initial:

We have been overwhelmingly blessed by First Baptist Church in countless ways.  This church is a big part of my identity!

All of the beautiful items we so graciously received made good car companions during my Sunday evening trip back.  We are so appreciative of everyone's generosity and are grateful beyond words.

Emerson is due exactly one month from today.  It dawned on me a couple of weeks ago how monumental November first actually is.  Can you figure out why?

In addition to it being the official, projected day of my daughter's birth it is also....drumroll....the day that HALLOWEEN CANDY goes on sale!!!

My eyes have seen the glory.

After sacrificing candy for almost six weeks now you can rest assured that I'll have the hospital gift shop on speed dial once Emerson arrives.  Her first words are going to be lollipop and Dum Dum.  How thoughtful of her to have such a convenient due date.  I'll mix some candy in her pureed baby food as a reward.

On Saturday night we celebrated our family October Birthdays!  After an extensive search we were able to locate only one candle in the entire house: the number zero.  What a riot.  I suppose we'll present it to Emerson in her first few hours of life.

Note to self: sell candle on EBAY to a person wishing to hide their age.

We also had gift time- one of my favorites- right up there with SNACK TIME!

My musical friends will get this : )

In other news I have approximately three miserable weeks left of work.  You would not believe the issues and crises I've encountered in the past week alone.  One of my favorite things is an "out of office message" when I'm away.  The only problem is that some people disregard it and call you constantly anyway...so I called this guy back on my vacation day that I was spending with family and was actually chewed out over an equipment capability that one of our reps supposedly "snuck" in there that they didn't need.  I was absolutely fuming.

A)  The proper past tense of the word here is "sneaked."  Insults are more effective if they are grammatically correct.
B) I returned your call on my vacation day out of the goodness of my heart, and "Ain't NOBODY got time for your rudeness!"

Lawd Jesus, it's a fire.  And I am SO SICK of putting them out.  My maternity leave absolutely can't come fast enough.

Various definitions of the word "leave:"

1) To go away from
2) To abandon or forsake
3) To stop doing

YES, JESUS!!!!!

During my twelve weeks of Heaven on earth I might as well be on planet Neptune, because I am answering NO work related calls, emails, smoke signals, sirens, catastrophic alerts, etc.  In fact, I may just follow Rose's example and toss my phone off the back of a massive ship.

Can you hear me now?

On another note I have become ENGROSSED in the Karen Kingsbury Redemption Series.  She's an amazing Christian writer, and you wouldn't believe how the stories unfold in each book.  They actually get better and better.

In fact, I'm now a legitimate candidate for Richland County Library's Accelerated Reading award...

One of the greatest things about this series is that it focuses so heavily on the ramifications of bad decisions.  We get one shot at life, and although we serve a merciful Savior we must also reap what we sow.  The problem is that it never stops with one lie or bad decision; they lead to others and continue to build.  For your sake and the sake of your witness, make wise choices.  It's something I heard my mother say more times back in the day than I used to ask if I could borrow her credit card.  Really.

Wise choices could save you- and your loved ones- from a lifetime of heartache.

I will leave you with the number of the week:

Can you guess what this represents?   I'll give you a hint.  It's not my IQ, and it's not how many Chick-Fil-A sandwiches I can scarf down in 30 seconds.

Tomorrow, October 2nd, is my Birthday!!!

AND...this month marks TWO years since I officially started this blog!  Each time someone tells me that they love reading it, are uplifted by it, or simply appreciate the laughs at my expense it brings my heart so much joy.

Know that I love and appreciate each one of you so much and will continue to bring you more excitement and thrills, because they're just beginning.

Singing with love from my larynx,
