The finest meat cooked to perfection, among other delicacies...and you turned your nose up at every one.
This is real life trying to get a toddler to eat anything.
Emerson eats with the dainty precision of a queen and a deceased person. Yes, she is that slow.
So in an effort to encourage her to eat her chicken/pancakes/bread we clap for and encourage her after each bite.
Can you imagine if adults acted like this? Good Heavens, if I were applauded every time I shoved a cheese fry in my mouth at Outback...
No joke. But I don't see a point in fighting the battle. Trust me, kids will eventually LOVE to eat, so much so that we'll have the opposite problem. I mean, honestly! Let's pick our battles wisely.
And let's focus on the important things, like a few weeks ago when our AC unit went out, and I was texting someone saying that we needed a quote on two "units" which got auto-corrected to "nudists."
Boy, am I glad I hesitated to hit 'send.' YIKES!
Although I'm pretty infamous for mistakes and mishaps, that was not one I wanted in my history book. One morning recently while taking Emerson to daycare I was talking to one of her teachers who was staring oddly at my neck.
Turns out I had forgotten to wash half of my face mask off that morning. Thank goodness I found out early, unlike the day recently when I had been three places before realizing there was a sticker from the wipes back in my hair. The positive note? It actually matched my shirt.

I love takeout, and I mean I LOVE takeout. It's so easy, convenient, and downright delicious. But for most of us, we cringe a little inside while listening to names being called as we wonder what jibberish will become of our last name this time. Case in point: last time I ordered from Outback we were "Nudy." The girl who delivered my meal to the car could barely keep a straight face.
Fast forward to when I'm inside a busy Cracker Barrel shopping while I wait on my order and all of the sudden a guy starts yelling "Nazi!" over the loudspeaker. I watched as people glanced strangely and horrifically around to see who in the world would give such a ridiculous name.
Then the guy started pointing at ME. "You're Nazi, right?"
Well, not exactly, but "Nozzy"...now that's a little closer, I guess.
REALLY!??!?! How hard is Moody!?? For Heaven's sake, how do Rene' Zellweger or Jake Gyllenhaal order takeout?!?
My parents came up a few weeks ago to visit my uncle Larry. Please be in prayer for him. He is currently in a rehab facility for his muscles and has been on a health decline. I met my parents that morning to see "War Room," and boy was I glad I saw that movie. It was absolutely wonderful, and EVERYONE needs to see it. Really. It will hit home right where you need to be hit.
Oddly enough- and without spoiling anything- during a scene in the movie a knife is pulled on someone. In that instant the movie shut off and all the lights in the theater came on.
One of the workers announced loudly that they were looking for someone who was having a family emergency. He realized that this person was not, in fact, in our theater, and when he left I said, "I hope they're okay, but that couldn't have happened during a worse scene!" We were all on the edge of our seats anyway. Was this movie about to become 3D with the knife crazed man running in the aisles? Several others agreed, but the movie quickly proceeded.
That afternoon we enjoyed sweet Ross's "Elmo" Birthday party. She has some of the sweetest little friends at daycare.
October is always a jam packed month, and 2015 has proved no differently! The night before my 31st Birthday I celebrated with this awesome group!
Emerson was so attentive to our tiny party guests, Collins and Anna! It was absolutely precious. From feeding them to giving them blankets and rocking them in the carseats- she was quite the babysitter!
When they left she hollered outside, "Bye, babies!"
Hats off to an awesome Birthday!
As glamorous as one should feel on their big day, I thought it was quite hilarious to wake up like THIS that morning...it really puts things in perspective. It was an honor to have those little feet in my face. And as one person pointed out, my gift is that she was still wearing a diaper!
It only seemed fitting that my Birthday weekend would be commemorated by a Hurricane, but we as a state had no clue what we were about to get into. We had originally planned a zoo trip for that Saturday, but that was quickly rescheduled due to the rain. I ventured out -carefully- to one place that day: the craft store to buy this darling. Where have you been all my life?!?
Meet the Cricut Explore Air, one of the world's most fabulous crafting machines. I am over the moon with this thing! Stationery, cutouts, decorations, you name it.

The next day, Sunday, I woke up and asked Ryan about getting ready for church. "Katharine, church is cancelled! Have you not seen the news?!?" And that's when I realized the magnitude of the situation.
I am so proud to be from South Carolina. It is incredible to see the outpouring of support, love, and prayers when things like this happen. We are strong. We believe. We lend helping hands and open our arms and homes. While we are still in recovery mode, we will come out stronger than we were before this happened. I don't think any of us will forget this "thousand year" flood.
Schools were cancelled for an entire week, including Emerson's daycare that had no running water. So while Ryan went back to work she and I got a little cabin fever, and I was still working from home while watching her. One morning out of the corner of my eye I saw something strange on the wall- the wall that we JUST had painted a few months ago.
Lesson learned: confiscate all purple crayons while trapped inside.
Fortunately things were somewhat back to normal the next weekend, and I'm so glad we were able to make the trip home, because I had several commitments for Ryan's Birthday weekend. He had planned to stay in Columbia for the game but decided to come home when the game was moved to another location. I had to sing for a wedding and revival that weekend, and he said "sure" when I asked him about being gone for his Birthday. I really appreciated that.
And I made this quick little video for Ryan's Birthday from Emerson.
Despite a terrible cold I sang and played piano for Taylor's wedding on the 10th and was so grateful to be a part of it. Her brother, John, is fantastic on the guitar and added so much!
Congratulations, Taylor! You are so beautiful and have an awesome family and church family.
I also had the opportunity to speak and provide special music for Pyerian Baptist's revival that weekend. I was scheduled to perform four songs, but due to the condition of my voice I decided to play two piano solos and sing two songs. And the Lord knew exactly why. Before the service my Mom looked through one of my notebooks and said, "Whose writing is this?" It was the writing of Mrs. Lori Jones who was so special to us for so many years and went to be with the Lord two years ago this month after a battle with cancer. She still lives on, and I love her so much.
Greg Hyler also did a fantastic job with the message. I particularly liked how he focused a portion of it on "our way vs. God's way." Something as simple as lying about your child's age to get a kid's meal discount is still not right. Everyone listened intently to the message he brought.
Also taking place this month, Ryan's Mom entered a new decade: 60! We celebrated with many family members and friends.

This adorable girl...she makes every event, every day, and every moment a celebration in her own right. I love her with every piece of my heart.
She loves her little friends, too.
I can't BELIEVE that she will be two years old next week. We started the celebration by taking her to the fair for the first time last night. She had an absolute BLAST, but I forgot the stroller, so Ryan and I worked off the elephant ears, corn dogs, fries, chicken nuggets, and slushies by carrying her around like a sack of jumping beans.
Animals aren't the only ones who need cages and leashes.
I couldn't get over her bravery. She rode the BIG ferris wheel and huge slides, the bumble bee ride, a truck ride, and also had quite a blast at the petting zoo.

We have a BIG weekend coming up with Emerson's 2nd Birthday party!!! Stay tuned!
